Recently, Energy China International Construction Group signed a memorandum of cooperation on the green hydrogen project in the southern region of Morocco with Saudi Ajlan Brothers and Moroccan Gaia Energy.

This is another important achievement achieved by China Energy Construction Group in the development of overseas new energy and "new energy +" markets after signing the memorandum of understanding on the cooperation and development of the green hydrogen project in Egypt. Achieved a new breakthrough in the Northwest African regional market.

Morocco is a key overseas market of CEEC, with unique conditions for the development of renewable energy. In recent years, the Moroccan government has continued to increase its efforts in the development of new energy, seawater desalination and hydrogen energy, and has formulated a renewable energy development plan. It plans to achieve 52% of renewable energy power generation in 2030. development blueprint in the field of energy and hydrogen energy, and accelerate the transformation of Morocco's energy structure.

The green hydrogen project signed this time is located in the coastal area of the southern region of Morocco, with convenient port and shipping transportation. The project mainly includes the construction of a production plant with an annual output of 1.4 million tons of green ammonia (about 320,000 tons of green hydrogen), and supporting 2 GW photovoltaic, 4 GW wind power project construction and post-operation and maintenance, etc. After the completion of the green hydrogen project, it will provide stable and clean energy for the southern region of Morocco and Europe every year, reduce the cost of electricity consumption, and help the green and low-carbon development of global energy.

Energy China has a number of professional research institutions including Energy China Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, Hydrogen Energy Technology Center, etc., and in 2022, Energy China Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd., which is a wholly-owned hydrogen energy industry chain and integrated development platform, was established. Carry out hydrogen energy front-end technology research, explore hydrogen energy business models, comprehensively lay out the hydrogen energy industry chain, and promote the low-carbon application of hydrogen energy in major terminal fields such as industry, construction, and transportation.

In 2022, Energy China’s green hydrogen business will go overseas for the first time, and will sign a memorandum of understanding on green hydrogen project cooperation and development with the Egyptian New Energy Authority, the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, the Sovereign Fund, and the Power Transmission Company, becoming the only company that has signed a cooperation development agreement with the Egyptian government Chinese-funded enterprises. The contracted project is developed in two phases, including the construction of green hydrogen projects worth US$5.1 billion. The first phase of the project will start in May 2024. After the project is completed, the annual output of green hydrogen will be about 140,000 tons. The project construction mainly includes: new energy power station, electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen and synthetic ammonia, and supporting storage and treatment facility systems.Editor/Ma Xue
