The construction of transportation infrastructure is a key area of the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa. From the Tanzania-Zambia Railway built in the 1970s to the Asia-Djibouti Railway that has been put into operation in recent years, railways have become China's national name card for promoting the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa. The art exhibition currently being held in Shanghai uses the road as a medium to present the real changes brought about by the railway construction in multiple art forms, and also builds a bridge to further promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and Africa.
The black-and-white photos taken half a century ago record the great efforts made by the Chinese construction aid workers at that time, and also witness the great history of the Chinese and African people sharing weal and woe and working side by side. The photographs and paintings created in the new era vividly demonstrate the tremendous changes brought about by the opening and operation of the railway to the economic and social development of Africa, and also provide a unique perspective for Chinese audiences to have a close understanding of African history, culture, customs and customs and windows. From big themes to small cuts, the diversity and innovation of exhibits is a major feature of this exhibition.
Coinciding with the 2023 Shanghai Citizens Cultural Festival, this art exhibition is also a vivid practice of cultural exchanges and cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta region. The exhibition will last until May 10 and is open to the public free of charge. Next, it will go to Guangzhou and other places to continue the tour.Editor/Ma Xue
