Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway will be widened to 8 lanes

Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is the first expressway in Chongqing and Sichuan, with a total length of 337.5 kilometers and two-way four-lane highway. It was completed and opened to traffic in 1995. Since its completion and opening to traffic, the traffic volume of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway has maintained a relatively high growth rate. Among them, the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway from Jiulongpo to the Ring Expressway section is already in a state of normal congestion; the traffic from the Ring to Yongchuan section has also exceeded the design service level and cannot meet the growing traffic demand. In the 14th Five-Year Plan for Chongqing's transportation development, the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is clearly defined as a key construction project for the reconstruction and expansion of the eight-lane expressway corridor in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, and the original four-lane Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway will be widened to eight lanes , of which the Chongqing section is 100 kilometers, and the Sichuan section is 237.5 kilometers. The entire construction period is expected to be 3 years.

In order to accelerate the construction of the project, Chongqing Expressway Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shudao Group in Chengdu. According to the agreement, the two parties will plan and construct the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway expansion project with high standards in accordance with the goal of unified standards and consistent steps, and implement the reconstruction and expansion of the eight-lane expressway corridor of the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway.

For the majority of car owners, it will be more convenient to use ETC on the Sichuan-Chongqing Expressway in the future. According to the cooperation agreement signed by the two parties, in addition to the expansion project of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, the two parties will jointly carry out the construction of cloud service area, ETC mall, personal car life, and upgrade the Chengdu-Chongqing ETC card in terms of ETC operation and management.

In addition, the two parties will also explore the commercial application of intelligent driving core technology on the new energy logistics trunk line of the expressway, and take the lead in realizing zero-emission green transportation in the whole process of the new energy logistics trunk line in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
