On April 20, 2023, the construction of the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf officially started.
At the construction site in Dajing Town, Maoming, Guangdong, many large-scale equipment are busy running, and dozens of workers are pouring construction above the tunnel. At present, 48 work areas along the entire project line have started construction. The Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf is one of the 150 major national water conservancy projects. The total length of the project is 490.33 kilometers. 112 townships and 9 key industrial parks in 4 cities including Zhanjiang delivered water, covering a population of more than 18 million. The total investment is 61.456 billion yuan, and the total construction period is 96 months. After the completion of the project, it will systematically solve the problem of water shortage in the four cities in western Guangdong, and completely end the millennium drought history of Leizhou Peninsula.
After the completion of the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf, it can solve the mismatch between the water resource carrying capacity and the economic development layout in the western Guangdong region in the long run, and greatly improve the regional water supply security capability.
