A few days ago, PowerChina held a groundbreaking ceremony for Section 3 of the rural bridge in Sierra Leone, another livelihood project in Africa that was designed and constructed. President Bio of Sierra Leone and his wife attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the 3rd bid for the rural bridge design and construction project undertaken by the No. 9 Hydropower Bureau of China Power Construction. The chief minister of the government of Sierra Leone, the minister of agriculture and forestry, the minister of engineering and public assets, and the minister of the environment attended the ceremony.

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, President Bio said that the project is a major livelihood project for the Republic of Sierra Leone. For many years, the human-powered ferry on the Saiwa River has been the only means of transportation connecting the two chiefdoms of Simbala and Wanda. The skyrocketing and rapid flow of the river has brought many inconveniences to the production and life of the residents. Building a bridge is the wish of the local people. The government of Sierra Leone will provide necessary assistance for the construction of the project. It is believed that the China Power Construction team can complete this high-quality project as soon as possible, benefiting the people on both sides of the strait and making new contributions to the friendship between China and Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone is located in West Africa, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, with superior natural conditions. On April 3, 2023, the Ninth Hydropower Bureau formally signed a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the country through a joint venture for the 2nd and 3rd bids of the rural bridge design and construction project. Among them, the 2nd bid section of the project is located at the Mattrujong Ferry in the Bang District in the southwestern part of the country, and the 3rd bid section is located in the Godama District of the Kenema District in the southeastern part of the country. The main construction content is the design and construction of 2 rural bridges. To replace the original ferry, the bridge deck has two-way traffic and sidewalks.
