On May 4, 2023, the main project of the Ganzi 1000 kV UHV substation officially started construction in Sichuan.

It is understood that the Ganzi 1,000 kV substation is the starting point of the Sichuan-Chongqing UHV project. Its construction has raised the altitude of China's UHV substation from 1,500 meters to 3,450 meters, and its transformation capacity has reached 6 million kVA. The construction of substations faces the triple challenge of high altitude, repeated ice, and high seismic intensity. Not only is the natural environment difficult, but the construction is extremely difficult.

After the Ganzi 1000 kV substation project is completed, the voltage level of the main grid frame of Southwest China Power Grid will be raised from 500 kV to 1000 kV, effectively receiving power from southwest and other places, and greatly improving the overall power security of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle ability.
