Recently, the commando team composed of China and Malaysia fought hard at the construction site of the Malaysia East Rail Project, and they wrote a chapter of youth. East Rail Division 1 is located in Kelantan, and established its first commando team in July 2017. The 33-year-old captain Zhang Tan is the deputy manager of the engineering management department of the first branch. Before coming to Malaysia, he participated in the construction of the Belt and Road project in Africa.

On April 26, Zhang Tan (right), deputy manager of the engineering management department of the first branch, Deng Youzhi (middle), the technical supervisor, and Deng Dewei, a local young employee from Malaysia, had a discussion Production status

Zhang Tan is checking the progress with Deng Youzhi, the technical supervisor, at the beam making yard—the production in the steel bar processing area and the beam making area is in full swing, and more than a hundred pieces of precast concrete simply supported T-beams are stored in an orderly manner, waiting to be erected on the bridge piers. Zhang Tan said that although the beam making yard is an auxiliary project in railway construction, it plays a pivotal role. Whether the beam making yard can supply the beams required for construction in a high-quality, efficient and timely manner determines whether the laying work of the railway project can be completed on time and whether the total construction period of the project can be realized smoothly.

The work sites where the commando members are located are the key lines of the entire project progress, and each commando member plays a key role. Zhang Tan said that when the equipment entered the site late, they overcame difficulties and built while producing, and now they have achieved full power.

Ye Xiaoyang, deputy general manager of China Communications Construction's Malaysia East Rail Project, told reporters that 2023 will be the climax of civil construction for the Malaysia East Rail Project, and it is expected that the number of employees on the entire line will exceed 20,000. The project has ten youth commando teams, with a total of 223 people, including 185 people aged 35 and under, distributed in important work sites of various branches. Deng Youzhi is from Sichuan and is the technical supervisor of the beam making yard. He spent all day in the beam making yard, and his white short sleeves were stained by sweat and plaster. Although he has been in the project for less than half a year, the upgraded process he proposed has helped save labor and improve efficiency. Because of trust, unremitting ingenuity; because of responsibility, we strive for excellence. Deng Youzhi said.

In the beam making field of the first branch, the reporter also met Deng Dewei, a local young Malaysian employee. Born in Kelantan, he joined the Malaysia East Rail Link project after graduating from the University of Malaya, and is now an engineer in the Engineering Management Department of a branch. Deng Dewei said proudly that he still remembered being there when the first pile was driven. Over the past two years, I have experienced a lot. In addition to self-improvement, I just watched the project keep moving forward, and they are getting closer and closer to the goal.

Over the past two years, under the leadership of Chinese masters, Deng Dewei has also been more deeply involved in this work. He said that Malaysia East Rail Link has brought more employment opportunities to the local area, and he met many alumni during the project. It is believed that after the completion of the project, it will bring more convenient transportation and more opportunities to the hometown. Ye Xiaoyang said that the project has entered an accelerated construction period and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. At present, the morale and fighting spirit of all young employees are high, and they have fully demonstrated the spirit of having ideals, daring to take responsibility, being able to endure hardships, and being willing to struggle. They have used actions to promote the efficient and high-quality development of project construction, and let youth shine in the Belt and Road. Editor/He Yuting
