On a wasteland in East Kazakhstan, rows of wind turbines are turning their blades steadily and powerfully. As of October 2022, as the state's first wind power station, the 31 wind turbines of the Abay 100MW wind power project invested and constructed by Universal Energy will all be connected to the grid for power generation. Carbon dioxide emissions are about 330,000 tons.

Inject Chinese energy into the Belt and Road Initiative

Kazakhstan is the first place to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, and it is also the first stop for Universal Energy to go out. Since 2015, relying on the investment, construction and operation advantages of the company's photovoltaic power generation and wind power generation, Universal Energy has taken advantage of China's Belt and Road Initiative, established a dual-cycle pattern, established dual carbon targets, and the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Corridor National Strategy and other major development strategies Dongfeng has deepened the layout of clean energy at home and abroad, successively expanded its business in Southeast Europe and Southeast Asia, and established subsidiaries or branches in many domestic provinces and cities.

Currently, Universal Energy is grid-connected, constructing and contracting 1.1GW of clean energy power stations and 1.6GW of reserve projects globally. Driven by a series of high-quality projects, the company has achieved steady growth, with an average annual revenue compound growth rate of 31%, striving to build a clean energy supplier with global core competitiveness and achieve high-quality development.

Before Universal Energy entered, Kazakhstan already had energy suppliers from Japan and some European countries, and the electricity prices offered were very competitive. Nan Yi, chairman of Universal Energy, said frankly that in the face of fierce market competition, they proposed a Universal Energy plan that is 100% made in China and 100% constructed in Kazakhstan.

Universal Energy plans to go abroad

The Kapchagay 100MWp photovoltaic power plant is the first project to adopt the Universal Energy solution. The power plant is located in Kapchagay, Almaty, Kazakhstan, and is the largest single photovoltaic power plant in the local area.

On the one hand, Universal Energy has continuously optimized the design of the power station, achieving a lower cost per unit of electricity than the same industry in the local area; on the other hand, during the construction process, Universal Energy transported more than 300,000 photovoltaic modules Shipping from China to the project site. In this way, it has not only promoted the export of photovoltaic modules and power equipment in China, but also changed the situation that Kazakhstan's new energy equipment has been monopolized by European brands for a long time, and reduced the construction cost of power stations. Nan Yi said. The power station has been connected to the grid for power generation in September 2019, with an annual power generation capacity of 160 million kWh and an annual reduction of about 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Kaskelen 50MWp photovoltaic power generation project will be connected to the grid for power generation in June 2020, with an annual power generation of 80.8 million kwh; the Ybyrai 50MW wind power project will be connected to the grid for power generation in February 2022, with an annual power generation of 190 million kwh... In the concept of joint consultation, joint construction and sharing Under the leadership, all Universal Energy projects in Kazakhstan have continued the model of Sino-Kazakh cooperative design, Chinese equipment procurement, Kazakh civil engineering construction, and Sino-Kazakh technical personnel cooperative management, giving full play to the respective advantages of the teams of the two countries and promoting technical exchanges between the two countries.

After 8 years of development, the 6 new energy power stations invested and operated by Universal Energy in Kazakhstan are all included in the key projects of China-Kazakhstan production capacity and investment cooperation. The annual power generation can meet the electricity demand of about 600,000 local residents and reduce carbon dioxide emissions every year. 1 million tons.

Relying on competitive advantages such as financing, cost of electricity, and risk management and control, by the end of 2022, Universal Energy won the bid for four new wind power projects with a total scale of 250MW in Kazakhstan, and the preliminary work is already in full swing. So far, the total scale of Universal Energy's new energy projects in Kazakhstan has reached 630MW, making it the largest and most competitive clean energy supplier in Kazakhstan.

It is worth mentioning that in February 2023, Universal Energy and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding on wind power project cooperation in Shanghai. , energy storage and other fields to seek more opportunities for cooperation.

An international green certificate is a certificate of environmental rights and interests. An international green certificate represents one megawatt-hour of electricity. It is used to record and declare the use of renewable energy such as wind energy, photovoltaics, and hydropower. It is an internationally recognized renewable energy consumption. Record standards. We sold the carbon assets formed by the 7,000MW on-grid power generation of a photovoltaic power station in Kapchagai, Kazakhstan, to the other party, which can offset about 5,950 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Nanyi said that with the help of the international green certificate, Universal Energy will actively participate in the construction of clean energy along the Belt and Road.Editor/Ma Xue
