On May 5, 2023, SDIC Power announced that it had received the approval from the National Development and Reform Commission on the approval of the Yagen I Hydropower Station Project on the Yalong River in Sichuan, and agreed to build the Yagen I Hydropower Station.

Project Overview

The Yagen I Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yalong River in Yajiang County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is the second step in the seven-level development plan for the middle reaches of the Yalong River. The upstream is connected to the Lianghekou Hydropower Station, and the Yagen II Hydropower Station is downstream. The power station plans to install three sets of 100,000-kilowatt axial-flow hydroelectric generating units, with a total installed capacity of 300,000-kilowatts and an average annual power generation of 1.153 billion kWh for many years. The engineering task is to generate electricity and reverse regulation of Lianghekou Hydropower Station, taking into account the demand for the lower reservoir of the Lianghekou Hybrid Pumped Storage Power Station. The total investment of the project is 5.88 billion yuan, of which the project capital is 1.176 billion yuan, which will be solved by the project unit's own funds.
