On May 09, 2023, the Sichuan Provincial Public Resources Trading Information Network released the announcement of the successful bidder candidates for the Panzhihua-Yanyuan Expressway project. The project was won by a consortium led by the Sichuan Expressway Construction and Development Group.

Project Overview

The project starts near Geliping in the west area of Panzhihua, intersects with Lipan Expressway by setting up a Banbian Street hub, connects with the Lipan connecting line of Panzhihua Expressway, sets up the Jinsha River Bridge to cross the Jinsha River, enters into the west area of Panzhihua, and sets up Ertaipo Tunnel To Tongde, through the Tongde Tunnel to Huimin Town. Then route along the east bank of the Huimin River, cross the Huimin River and then along the west bank of the Yongxing River, pass through Yongxing and then along the Lalian River, pass by the southeast side of the Gesala Geopark, and enter Gesala at Dacaogou The tunnel passes through Huangcao and Meiyu, and ends near Baijia Village. Baijia Junction is set up to connect with Xixiang Expressway.

The project is constructed according to the standard of a four-lane expressway with full interchange and fully enclosed. The design speed is 80 km/h, and the roadbed width is 25.5 meters. The main line of Panyan is 140.542 kilometers long, and the total investment is estimated at 35.35 billion yuan.
