The fifth and sixth line project from Guangzhou East Station to Xintang Station, the Guangzhou railway hub, is located in Tianhe District, Huangpu District, and Zengcheng District of Guangzhou City. It starts from Guangzhou East Station in the west and ends at Xintang Station in the east, paralleling the existing Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway. It is part of the Guangzhou-Shantou high-speed railway. The design speed is 200 kilometers per hour, the estimated total project investment is 26.943 billion yuan, and the planned construction period is 5 years.
The west end of the line connects Guangzhan, Guiguang, Nanguang, Guangzhou-Zhuhai, Shenmao Railways and Beijing-Guangzhou passage through the Guangzhou hub, communicates with the core area of the Pearl River Delta, and radiates west and southwest Guangdong; the east end undertakes the Beijing-Kowloon passage and connects Jiangxi , Anhui and other central and eastern areas, and connected with the coastal railway, leading to the southeast and east China coastal areas.
Combined with the upgrading and transformation of the cargo, passenger and passenger areas of the hub, and with the gradual implementation of the Dawan District railway planning project, after the completion of this project, it will solve the bottleneck problem of the east-west core passage inside the Guangzhou hub, and it will also connect the west and southwest of Guangdong with the east and southeast of China. The main line of this project has a total length of 29.966 kilometers, connecting Guangzhou East and Xintang stations. The related supporting projects are the reconstruction project of Guangzhou East Station, the reconstruction project of the Guangzhou East to Shipai section, and the Guangzhou East EMU project.
The main line base of the whole line is 5.53 kilometers, the tunnel is 24.44 kilometers, and the tunnel ratio is 81.5%. Guangzhou East Railway Station has newly built station buildings with an area of 118,100 square meters, renovated station buildings with an area of 76,500 square meters, and newly built production and living houses with an area of 112,600 square meters. The total scale of Guangzhou East Railway Station is 7 storage lines and 34 storage lines.
After the reconstruction of Guangzhou East Railway Station, the total scale is 12 sets of 21 lines, of which 8 sets of 14 lines are installed in the ground field, and 4 sets of 7 lines are set in the elevated field. The station is arranged according to the ground + elevated sub-fields.
