Recently, Chinalco organized a review meeting for the feasibility study report of the Baotou Aluminum Industry Damao Banner 1,200 MW new energy project in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. The project feasibility study report successfully passed the group review.
The total installed capacity of new energy in this project is 1200MW, including 1000MW of wind power, 200MW of photovoltaic and supporting electrochemical energy storage of 240MW/480MWh. Two 220kV step-up stations will be built in support of this project. The project is located in Damao Banner, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The site is between 109°25′31.394180″-109°32′26.333324″ east longitude and 41°58′56.573761″-42°08′00.218796″ north latitude. The terrain of the site is high in the south and low in the north, with an altitude between 1250m and 1450m, and the straight-line distance from Damao Banner in the southeast is about 85km.
Clean energy such as wind power and photovoltaics has ushered in major development opportunities and will be the main source of power for new power systems in the future. The project will make full use of the development conditions of local high-quality scenery resources in Damao Banner, and give full play to the advantages of stable consumption of electrolytic aluminum and peak regulation of self-provided thermal power, to realize the coordinated development of new energy power generation and aluminum smelting, and to create clean, low-carbon and green aluminum products. An important strategic move for Aluminum Group and Chinalco to adjust their energy structure and achieve high-quality development. Editor / Zhao E
