Recently, the 3 million tons of carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage CCUS demonstration project started construction in Ningdong Energy and Chemical Base in Ningxia. The project uses the high-concentration carbon dioxide emitted by the China Energy Group's 4 million tons of coal-to-liquids project as the carbon source, and is deeply coupled with the oil exploitation of PetroChina's Changqing Oilfield to carry out green carbon reduction cooperation between modern coal chemical industry and large-scale oil and gas field exploitation.
3 million tons CCUS demonstration project
Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base is an important energy and chemical industry base in China, with concentrated modern coal chemical industry projects and large carbon dioxide emissions. The base is located on the western edge of the Ordos Basin, which has good carbon dioxide storage conditions, with a storage capacity of more than 10 billion tons. The 3 million tons CCUS demonstration project consists of two parts: the carbon source capture project of the Ningdong base and the Ningxia oil flooding and storage project of the Changqing oil area. Qing Oilfield carried out oil flooding and storage. After the project is completed, it will become a demonstration project of the whole industrial chain of carbon capture, utilization and storage.
It is understood that the project includes 3 million tons of carbon dioxide capture project, 3 million tons of carbon dioxide long-distance pipeline, 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide flooding enhanced oil recovery project and 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide capture and storage project. Among them, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, 1 million tons of CCUS will be built in two phases, and a 130-kilometer carbon source pipeline will be built. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, a scale of 3 million tons will be built, covering geological reserves of 170 million tons. After the project is put into production, a total of 74.5 million tons of carbon dioxide can be injected, and a cumulative increase of more than 17 million tons of oil can be achieved.
Ma Cheng, the second-level inspector of the Management Committee of Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, said that the project has found a golden key to solve the high-carbon problem for the modern coal chemical industry, and also found a secret weapon for green oil production to increase production. After the project is completed, it will provide replicable and scalable market-oriented practical experience for China to carry out large-scale CCUS project construction and achieve end-to-end carbon reduction.
