May 28, 2023 is the 30th anniversary of the operation of the Shanghai Metro. With the order from the main venue, the grooving machine located on the construction site of Gaoke Middle Road Station of Pudong Line 13 East Extension started smoothly, which means that the construction of Line 13 East Extension Project has officially started.
Line 13 East Extension Project
It is reported that the construction of Shanghai Metro Line 13 began in 2008 and was put into operation in sections. Among them, in 2012, the western section of the first phase project, from Jinyun Road Station to Jinshajiang Road Station, was opened for operation. In 2014, the eastern section of the first phase project, from Longde Road Station to Changshou Road Station, was opened for operation. In 2015, the western section of the second phase project, from Changshou Road Station to Expo Avenue Station, was opened for operation. In December 2018, the eastern section of the second phase project and the third phase project, from Expo Avenue Station to Zhangjiang Road Station, were opened for operation.
It is reported that the eastern extension project of Line 13 is 4.52km long, which starts from the east end of Zhangjiang Road, the third phase project of Line 13, and ends at the integrated circuit design Industrial Park. There are two underground stations along the East Extension Line, namely Gaoke Middle Road Station and Dangui Road Station.
In the future, the East Extension of Line 13 will provide travel convenience for the integrated circuit design Industrial Park and surrounding residents after it is put into operation. At the same time, it helps to attract high-tech enterprises to gather in the integrated circuit industrial park, promote the construction and development of Zhangjiang Science City, and achieve the goals of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center construction.
