On May 27, 2023, the 1st Dawan District Modern Rail Transit Technology Academic Forum and the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Dawan District Modern Rail Transit Collaborative Innovation Center Annual Conference will be held in Guangzhou. It is reported that the Fosui-Dongguan Intercity is scheduled to start construction at the end of September 2023.
Fosui-Dongguan Intercity Project
The intercity between Foshan and Dongguan via Guangzhou is located in Foshan, Guangzhou, and Dongguan in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Among them, the border between Guangzhou and Guangzhou is 50.6km long, and there are 13 stations in total, including 12 transfer stations. The distance is 3.9km, and the line passes through Liwan District, Haizhu District, Huangpu District and Zengcheng District of Guangzhou. According to the general plan of the project, the 13 stations in the Guangzhou section are: Fangcun, Shiergong, Yile Road, Yizhou Road, Modisisha, Pazhou, Xinzhou, Yuzhu, Huangpu Station, Punan Road, Chenjialin Station, Xinzhou Tang, Nizi. The main line of the Foshan section passes through the three districts of Nanhai, Chancheng and Shunde, and has 8 stations.
At the meeting, Liu Zhicheng, general manager of Guangzhou Metro Group, said that in 2020, 23 lines are planned for the intercity railway network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total mileage of more than 2,000 kilometers. Currently, 7 lines are in operation and 11 lines are under construction. The radiating and driving effect of the core cities enables Guangzhou to reach Foshan and Dongguan centers within 30 minutes, Qingyuan within 45 minutes, and other cities within 60 minutes.
According to reports, Guangzhou Metro has undertaken 13 intercity railway projects in the Pearl River Delta, with a total mileage of 550 kilometers, including 6 projects with a length of 320 kilometers and 7 projects under construction with a length of 230 kilometers. The Pearl River Delta Intercity Railway adopts the same technical standards as the National Railway, and uses similar models to the Guangzhou City Express Line, which has the conditions for interconnection. For example, the Guangzhou-Qingzhou intercity can use the city express line to realize intercity access to the center.
In terms of cross-city subway interconnection, Guangzhou and Foshan have successively opened three lines including Guangfo Line, Foshan Line 2, and the west extension of Guangzhou Line 7, realizing rapid access to the center of Foshan and the center of Guangzhou. At the same time, 18 subway passages are planned in the long-term, which will form a pattern of development from single-region integration to city-wide integration.
In addition, Liu Zhicheng also introduced the practice and exploration of integrated transportation hubs and TOD, and analyzed how Baiyun Station and Baiyun Airport T3 integrated transportation hub will create station-city integration. He said that the T3 comprehensive transportation hub of Baiyun Airport will realize the coordinated development of aviation and rail transit, integrate the two intercity and two high-speed rails, and realize convenient transfers between various rail transits.
