On June 13, 2023, the Hubei Provincial Electronic Tendering and Bidding Trading Platform released a notice on the application for construction of the investor bidding project for the Shanghai Chengdu Shanghai Chongqing Connection Section of the Badong Zhangjiajie Expressway. The estimated total amount of this project is about 20.1 billion yuan, and the planned construction period is 2160 calendar days.

Project Overview

The project is planned to start from the north side of Badong County and connect with G42 Shanghai–Chengdu Expressway, cross the Yangtze River in the south, pass Chadianzi Town of Badong County and Moping Township of Zigui County, and end at the west side of Yesanguan Town of Badong County and connect with G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway. The total length of the line is about 71km. The total length of Badong City North Interchange connecting line is about 4km, the length of Moping Interchange connecting line is about 3.7km, and the length of Yesanguan North Interchange connecting line is 1.2km. The three connecting lines are all built according to the standard of two lane second-class highway. There are 5 super large bridges of 7625m and 29 large bridges of 9160m. Among them, steel box girder Suspension bridge with main span of 1150m is recommended for the main bridge of Badong Changjiang River Highway Bridge II. The Miaoping River Bridge recommends the use of 95+170+95 prestressed concrete rigid frames; The total length of the tunnel is 41508m/18, including 5 extra long tunnels of 26604m, 8 long tunnels of 12546m, and 5 medium and short tunnels of 2358m.
