On the morning of June 13, 2023, the government of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, held a signing ceremony with CGN New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. and Yangzhou Jidao Energy Co., Ltd., and Wan Chaoqi, secretary of the CPC Chifeng Municipal Committee, attended the signing ceremony. Wang Wangsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the signing ceremony.

The three parties officially signed a 1 million ton green methanol project for hydrogen production in Fengguang, with an agreed investment of about 26 billion yuan. The project will be located in Bairin Left Banner and Ar Horqin Banner. After the project is completed, it is estimated that the annual output value will be about 8.4 billion yuan, the tax revenue will be about 1 billion yuan, and about 1000 people will be employed, which will be of great significance to promote the industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality economic development of Chifeng City.

In recent years, the development momentum of Inner Mongolia's hydrogen energy industry has been strong. Since 2023, there have been frequent reports of multiple green hydrogen projects being signed and implemented, involving multiple state-owned enterprises such as China Energy Engineering Corporation, China Electric Power Construction Corporation, and China Shipbuilding Corporation.
