On June 19, 2023, Hubei Provincial Department of Transport released the bidding announcement for bid section BZTZR-1 of the investors of the Shanghai Chengdu Shanghai Chongqing connection section of Badong Zhangjiajie Expressway (including the second Badong Yangtze River Bridge). The project belongs to the industry highway, and the tenderee is the People's Government of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The total investment of the project is about 20.1 billion yuan, and the planned construction period is 2160 calendar days.

Project Overview

Construction site: Badong County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and Zigui County, Yichang City.

Construction scale: The project planning starts from the project planning, starts from the north side of Badong County and connects with G42 Shanghai–Chengdu Expressway, crosses the Yangtze River in the south, passes through Chadianzi Town of Badong County and Moping Township of Zigui County, and ends at the west side of Yesanguan Town of Badong County and connects with G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway with a hub, with a total length of about 71km. Badong Interchange Link Line is 4km long, and Moping Interchange Link Line is 4.3km long. Three links are built according to the standard of two lane second-class highway. There are 5 super large bridges with a length of 7625m, and 29 large bridges with a length of 9160m. Among them, steel box girder Suspension bridge with main span of 1150m is recommended for the main bridge of Badong Changjiang River Highway Bridge II. The Miaoping River Bridge recommends the use of 95+170+95 prestressed concrete rigid frames; The total length of the tunnel is 41508m/18, including 5 extra long tunnels of 26604m/5, 8 long tunnels of 12546m/8, and 5 medium and short tunnels of 2358m/5. Technical standards: The entire line is planned to adopt a design speed of 80km/h, a four lane highway design standard, and a roadbed width of 25.5m. The Yangtze River Bridge adopts a bidirectional six lane standard.
