Recently, the Pakistan Jihang 1263 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant project, the largest single unit capacity and most advanced technology generator unit project in Pakistan, designed by CEEC Zhejiang Institute and constructed by Jiangsu Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., passed a 168 hour full load test run in one go.
Project Introduction
The Pakistan Jihang 1263MW Combined Cycle Power Plant project is located in Punjab Province, Pakistan. It is currently one of the highest net efficiency, most reliable, and most powerful gas turbines put into commercial operation. The project includes 2 sets of Siemens 8000H gas turbine generator units, 2 sets of Benson type three pressure reheat natural circulation horizontal waste heat boilers without supplementary combustion, and 1 set of three pressure reheat pure condensing steam turbine generator unit. The unit adopts dual fuel power generation, with the main fuel being natural gas RLNG and the backup fuel being high-speed diesel HSD Oil. The entire unit can operate either in a single cycle or in a combined cycle.
After the project is put into operation, it can generate over 1.26 million kilowatt hours of electricity per hour, equivalent to the total electricity consumption of nearly 4 million households in Pakistan. It will effectively alleviate the current sitution of power shortage in Economy of Pakistan, and provide continuous power and energy supply for Pakistan's economic construction and development and improvement of people's lives.
Construction highlights
The most efficient gas turbine: The project adopts the Siemens gas turbine, which currently has the highest combustion temperature, single unit power, and efficiency in the world. Due to its combined cycle power generation net efficiency exceeding 62%, it has become one of the most efficient ways to convert fuel into usable energy.
To ensure the design performance of the gas turbine, during the installation process, the project team polished it with Chinese embroidery skills, simulated the picky eyes of foreign experts, self checked and corrected errors in a timely manner, and delivered excellent answers that matched the "world's best" with professionalism and dedication.
Among them, the upper and lower cylinders of the two low-pressure cylinders of the steam turbine generator set are assembled in two separate parts on site, which is difficult to assemble and requires a large amount of welding work. Especially, the split surfaces of the first and second low-pressure cylinders need to be polished and grooved after welding. After the welding of the split joint between the upper and lower cylinders of the low-pressure cylinder is completed, the installation personnel of the project department's power construction site's steam turbine have meticulously crafted every procedure from rough grinding, fine grinding, fine grinding, to fine grinding. In June 2021, every day it was above 40 ℃. After each set of processes, everyone's clothes were soaked through. After grinding, self inspection was completed, and the factory representative accepted it all at once. Simply put, "Chinese master is very good".
High level closure of steam turbines: During the project construction process, with the goal of creating high-quality projects, we vigorously carried out refined management, clean purification, and high standard construction. The project quality has always been under control and has been praised multiple times by the owner and general contractor.
At 15:16 local time on February 22, 2022, the turbine cover was successfully removed, which was completed 15 days ahead of the construction schedule formulated by the general contractor. All parameters met the design requirements and gained recognition from all parties.Editor/Ma Xue
