From June 19 to 21, 2023, the special report consultation, special report on general construction layout planning and special report review meeting on normal pool level selection of Meidai Pumped-storage hydroelectricity in Inner Mongolia in the feasibility study stage were successfully held in Baotou.
The meeting mainly studied three major topics related to the comparison and selection of hub layout patterns, selection of normal water storage levels, and overall construction layout planning by relevant design units, and discussed and reviewed each topic.
Before the meeting, experts and representatives from the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Resources Planning and Design conducted on-site inspections of engineering sites such as the upper reservoir, lower reservoir, adit, and slag disposal area, in order to gain a detailed understanding of the engineering construction boundary conditions such as topography, hub layout, geology, hydrology, and the surrounding environment of the construction area. The Inner Mongolia Meidai Pumped-storage hydroelectricity Project has been included in the key implementation projects of the 14th Five Year Plan of the National Pumped Storage Medium and Long Term Development Plan (2021-2035) and the three-level control projects of 102 Megaproject of the 14th Five Year Plan. The total installed capacity of the power station is 1.2 million kilowatts, and four vertical shaft single stage mixed flow reversible water pump turbine units with a single unit capacity of 300000 kilowatts are arranged. The rated head is 298m, and the project has a continuous full capacity of 6 hours. The total investment of the project is about 8.453 billion yuan.
As an important node of the work in the feasibility study stage of Pumped-storage hydroelectricity project, the review of the three special reports is an important basis for other special studies and reviews in the feasibility study stage, as well as the prerequisite for the approval and commencement of the project in the next stage. The convening of the review meeting marked the most critical step forward in the approval of the Meidai Pumped-storage hydroelectricity project in Inner Mongolia, and laid a solid foundation for the early approval and construction of the project. It is the actual action of Inner Mongolia Power Group Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd. to thoroughly implement the 1469 strategic system of the Group and fully promote the construction of Pumped-storage hydroelectricity in western Mongolia. It is of great significance to serve the dual carbon goals and build a new type of power system, improving the safety, reliability, and operational economy of the power system. Editor/Xie Li
