On the afternoon of June 27, 2023, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Thanh, who was on an official visit to China.

Xi Jinping emphasized that both China and Vietnam are socialist countries, comrades with a high degree of mutual trust, partners of mutual benefit and win-win results, and friends who know each other well.The two sides should deepen exchanges of experience in party governance, adhere to the concept of putting the people first, and firmly support each other in taking the path of socialism and modernization with its own characteristics that suit its own national conditions.The two sides should jointly build the Belt and Road with high quality, strengthen the docking of development strategies, give play to complementary advantages, and accelerate practical cooperation in infrastructure, smart customs, green energy and other fields.China is willing to import more marketable Vietnamese products, and Vietnam is welcome to actively participate in the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the China International Import Expo in the second half of this year.The two sides should enrich people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, especially the younger generation, and build a solid social foundation for the development of bilateral relations.The two sides should jointly oppose decoupling and disconnection, oppose the pan-politicization of economic and technological issues, safeguard international fairness and justice and their own development rights, promote the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction, and create a peaceful and stable external environment for the modernization of the two countries.

Pham Minh Thanh said that China is a major country in the world and a close friend of Vietnam.
