On June 28, 2023, the 2023 Lancang Mekong Cooperation Media Summit China Energy Construction Symposium was held at the company headquarters. More than 50 mainstream media presidents, editors in chief, and senior journalists and editors from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam visited China Energy Construction for discussions and exchanges. Ma Mingwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union of China Energy Construction Corporation, Kou Fei, Chairman of People's Daily Cultural Media Company, and Xu Bo, Deputy Director of the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Department of People's Daily, attended the meeting.

Ma Mingwei, on behalf of China Energy Construction, warmly welcomed the visit of Chinese and foreign journalists. He said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the the Belt and Road Initiative and the 7th anniversary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Over the years, China and the five Mekong River countries have treated each other as equals, sincerely helped each other, and been close to each other. They have promoted high-quality cooperation along the the Belt and Road to go deeper and deeper, and created a "golden model" for subregional cooperation. China Energy Construction has actively participated in the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, deeply cultivated the Southeast Asian market, and contracted to build a number of hydropower stations, thermal power stations, power transmission and transformation, and water projects, contributing energy construction wisdom to improving the level of regional infrastructure and promoting people's living and working in peace and contentment in the region.

Ma Mingwei said that as the national team of energy and power construction and the main force of the the Belt and Road construction, China Energy Construction will thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, adhere to the principle of joint consultation, joint construction and sharing, further give play to the advantages of the integration of the whole industrial chain, comprehensively support the upgrading of infrastructure in the five Mekong River countries, continue to develop high-quality, small and beautiful livelihood projects in the Mekong River basin, and systematically help the green economic development of the five Mekong River countries, Actively fulfill social responsibilities and let people in the basin really feel the dividends of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Adhere to cultural empowerment, cultural mutual learning and cultural co prosperity, make good use of the results of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Media Summit, tell the story of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, show the world more diversified, three-dimensional and true achievements of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, write a new chapter of Chinese enterprises' contribution to the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and unswervingly promote the construction of a Community of Common Destiny.

Xu Bo expressed gratitude for the warm reception and caring support of China Energy Construction. She stated that the Lancang Mekong River is a river of friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development. The "Lancang Mekong Cooperation Media Summit" organized by People's Daily promotes communication among the people of the six Lancang Mekong countries through media cooperation, further promoting understanding and mutual trust among people of various countries. China Energy Construction and other central enterprises actively participate in the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, contribute their own strength to the local economic, social and cultural development, and promote local development. Media representatives from the five countries of the Lancang Mekong region visited the exhibition hall of China Energy Construction Corporation, listened to the introduction of the electricity interconnection situation in the five countries, as well as the construction and social responsibility fulfillment of key projects in the Lancang Mekong region. They highly praised China's wisdom and energy construction plan for injecting strong impetus into regional development through the Lancang Mekong cooperation, and improving the infrastructure construction and energy transformation and upgrading in the Lancang Mekong region.
