On June 26, 2023, the bidding announcement for the construction drawing review of the Guangdong section of the newly built Zhangzhou Shantou high-speed railway was released on the Guangzhou Public Resource Trading Public Service Platform. After the construction drawings are reviewed and approved, the construction bidding conditions are met, and the Zhangshan high-speed railway enters the countdown stage of construction. The project is scheduled to commence by the end of September 2023, with a planned duration of 4.5 years.

The feasibility study report of the Zhangshan high-speed railway project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in January of this year, becoming the first national high-speed railway project approved this year. The total investment of the project is about 38.9 billion yuan, including 13 billion yuan for the Guangdong section.

Project Overview

The project starts from Zhangzhou railway station, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province in the north, passes through Chaozhou, and ends at Shantou railway station, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It connects Fuzhou Xiamen Passenger Dedicated Line under construction in the north and Shantou–Shanwei high-speed railway under construction in the south, forming a new channel of coastal high-speed railway.

The main line is 174.680km long, of which the Guangdong section is 48.1km long, with a design speed of 350km/h and a bridge tunnel ratio of 89.50%. A total of 5 stations are set, of which Zhangzhou and Zhangpu are existing stations, and Dongshan County, Zhao'an South and Raoping South are new stations. Planned duration

The total construction period is 1640 calendar days, and it is planned to start construction on September 30, 2023 and complete on March 30, 2028. The term of this service shall be from the date of contract signing to the completion and acceptance of the project.
