Seychelles government officials stated that this eye-catching project is a witness to the close cooperation between China and Seychelles in the field of infrastructure, and will play an important role in Seychelles' sustainable development and resource self-sufficiency.

Project Overview

The Lagosi Dam Heightening Project is a major livelihood project in Seychelles, which mainly includes the elevation of the existing dam, anti-seepage treatment of the north and south auxiliary dams, and upgrading and renovation of the existing water intake tower.

As the main source of freshwater in Seychelles at present, the capacity of the Lagosi Dam is becoming increasingly difficult to meet the needs brought about by the country's population growth. This project aims to increase the dam height by 6 meters, bringing about a 60% increase in storage capacity. It can provide stable and reliable water sources for agricultural irrigation and urban water supply systems in Seychelles, greatly alleviating the problem of water shortage during the dry season in the country.

The heightening project of Lagosi Dam is the first project of Power Construction Corporation of China in Seychelles. During the construction period, the project department follows localized management, increases employment opportunities for local people, recruits local and third country labor services, helps them master skills, improve technology, and purchases, produces, and transports all construction materials from the local area. At the same time, it actively serves local residents in need, which has been highly praised by the local government.Editor/Ma Xue
