On July 4, 2023, with the smooth placement of No. 2 turnout at the Jiangcun up arrival yard, the Jiangcun interconnection line of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway will be successfully connected to Jiangcun railway station, the largest marshalling station in South China. The successful connection of this high-speed railway line will lay a solid foundation for the opening of Shashi interconnection line and Jiangda interconnection line of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway, and also provide a strong foundation for the passenger and freight trains of the Guangzhou Maoming Line to bypass into Guangzhou railway station and accelerate the construction of the main line of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway.

Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway is an important part of the high-speed railway corridor connecting the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, the Hainan Free Trade Zone and the Gulf of Tonkin urban agglomeration. It is not only an important measure to implement the major national development strategy, but also a strong support for Guangdong Province to build a new regional development pattern of one core, one belt and one zone.

It is reported that the newly built Shashi and Jiangda connecting lines, as key control node projects of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway, mainly undertake the important functions of dredging the Guangmao Railway and Guangzhu Railway, and are the most important part of the construction of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway, directly affecting the main line construction of the Guangzhou section of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway. The total length of the two connecting lines is 13.36 kilometers, of which the design speed of the Shashi connecting line is 80 kilometers per hour, and the design speed of the Jiangda connecting line is 60 kilometers per hour. It mainly involves professional construction such as roadbed, bridge, track, station yard, and four electricity.

As the largest marshalling station in South China, Jiangcun railway station is an important hub of the railway network in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. According to Zhuang Jiachu, the site director of the four electricity project of Guangzhou Zhanjiang High Speed Railway Lot 2 of China Railway 25th Bureau, the construction of the Jiangcun Upward Arrival Station is located in the marshalling station, which is the last hurdle for the completion and opening of the two connecting lines of Guangzhou Zhanjiang High Speed Railway. The construction contents mainly include the commissioning of 127 groups of turnout switch equipment in the Jiangcun Upward Arrival Yard, the commissioning and activation of 117 annunciators, the 110 sections of the 25 week Track circuit, and the 12 direction crossings in the adjacent yards and station couplets, The renovation of 8 yards within the marshalling yard is the largest, most complex, and most difficult renovation of the newly built signal building and indoor and outdoor equipment during the construction of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway.

The successful connection of Jiangda connecting line to Jiangcun railway station marks the smooth interconnection between Shashi connecting line of Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway, Jiangda connecting line and Jiangcun hub. After the next opening of the connecting line, passenger and freight trains on the Guangmao Line can use the connecting line and the Guangzhou Zhuhai Line to operate into the Guangzhou hub, laying the foundation for accelerating the construction of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway.

After the completion and opening of the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway, it will boost the integration of Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang in the coastal areas of western Guangdong into the joint development of Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, and help Guangdong achieve the goal of 350 km/h high-speed railway.
