Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh held a press conference on the "Social Responsibility Report of Chinese Enterprises in Bangladesh". The report points out that as of now, Chinese enterprises have participated in the construction of 27 power and energy projects in Bangladesh, built 12 roads, 21 bridges, and 7 railways, and created approximately 550000 job opportunities in Bangladesh.

In recent years, the demand for energy and transportation in Bangladesh has surged, and the participation of Chinese enterprises in various energy projects has effectively promoted the diversification of Bangladesh's energy structure, effectively improving the transportation situation of goods and promoting personnel mobility.

In addition, Chinese enterprises have also participated in the construction of sewage treatment plants, river training, surface water treatment, and university construction projects in Bangladesh, making positive contributions to promoting economic and social development and improving people's well-being in different fields.

Meng Xi, Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh, pointed out in his speech that Chinese enterprises have made important contributions to Bangladesh's economic development, especially in creating a large number of employment opportunities for Bangladesh in infrastructure construction and other areas. The Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh will continue to create a favorable business environment for Chinese enterprises to develop in Bangladesh and continuously deepen economic and trade cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen

Yao Wen, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, said that under the call of the the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh firmly establish the concept of a Community of Common Destiny, actively implement the global development initiative, and consciously fulfill their social responsibilities with practical actions. Chinese funded enterprises in Bangladesh will more consciously shoulder the responsibility of promoting the sustainable development of Mengke and deepening the friendship between China and Bangladesh, and let the friendship between China and Bangladesh be passed down from generation to generation.

At the press conference, representatives of Bangladeshi partners in the Padma Bridge, Dasher Gandhi Sewage Treatment Plant, and Payala Coal-fired Power Plant projects invested or contracted by Chinese enterprises gave speeches, fully recognizing the social responsibilities fulfilled by Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh, and thanking them for their contributions to local economic development and people's improvement. The six winners of the China Bangladesh Ambassador Friendship Award also shared their stories with China from their respective perspectives and expressed their willingness to work hard as ambassadors of China Bangladesh friendship and encourage more people to devote themselves to the cause of China Bangladesh friendship.

At the meeting, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh released the "Report on Social Responsibility of Chinese Funded Enterprises in Bangladesh", and Hasan Shahriar, a Bangladeshi employee of the Aisalam Project Department, and five other Bangladeshis were awarded the Friendship Award of the China Bangladesh Ambassador.

During her award speech, Hasan Shahriar stated that the friendship between China and Bangladesh has a long history. I am honored to be able to transform from a Chinese medical student to an employee of a Chinese funded enterprise, contributing my own efforts to promoting the development of China Bangladesh friendship and cultural exchange. The Isalam project is the coal-fired power plant unit with the largest investment and installed capacity in Bangladesh. During the construction process, the project not only drove local economic development, but also promoted local employment. After the project is put into operation, the annual power generation will exceed 10 billion kWh, which will greatly improve the current situation of power shortage in our country and help us achieve the Golden Bengal Dream with practical actions.Editor/Ma Xue
