Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ø rsted have signed a key contract with Navantia Windar and Orient Cable for the delivery of basic and array cables for the 1.5GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland. Baltica 2 is the first phase of the 2.5GW Baltica offshore wind farm, which also includes the Baltica 3 offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1GW.

According to the contract, Navantia Windar will deliver a single Pile foundation, with the maximum of more than 100 meters and the weight of more than 2000 tons. Dongfang Cable will provide 170 kilometers of 66kV submarine array cables to connect wind turbines from Poland's offshore wind power facilities to offshore substations.

Ø rsted and PGE have agreed to establish a 50/50 joint venture in February 2021 to develop the Baltica 2 and 3 offshore wind power projects. Chairman of PGE Management Committee Wojciech D ą Browski said that by signing the contract for the Baltica 2 wind turbine generator in early April, we have started a series of agreements that are crucial for the development of the project.

Ensure that the components of Baltica 2 will enable us to continue with the next stage of project development. Our planned actions have always brought us closer to achieving PGE Group's strategic goal of developing 2.5 gigawatts of offshore wind power capacity by 2030.

The Baltic Sea offshore wind power project will be Ł The development of the Polish portion of the Baltic Sea between eba and Ustka is expected to support Poland's green energy transformation and provide renewable energy to approximately 4 million households in the country. The goal of First and PGE Baltica is to complete the construction of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm by the end of 2027, depending on the final investment decision.

The two companies are expected to begin full operation of the Baltica 3 offshore wind power facility no later than the end of 2029. Agata Staniewska, Managing Director of Ø rsted Offshore Poland, stated that Ø rsted has 30 years of experience in the development, procurement, construction, and operation of offshore wind farms. Together with PGE, we are committed to providing large-scale offshore wind energy to Poland. By signing two other strategic component contracts for Baltica 2, we are gradually advancing this milestone project, which will become a pioneer in offshore wind power in Poland.
