In order to meet the current and future housing, industrial, and commercial development needs of the capital Male and surrounding areas, the Maldives government has requested the construction of a batch of social housing projects, resulting in 7000 sets of social housing projects.
The project, undertaken by CSCEC, is the largest housing construction project undertaken by Chinese enterprises in the Maldives since the the Belt and Road Initiative. It aims to create better living conditions for nearly 35000 residents in the densely populated capital of Maldives and nearby areas, and has important historical significance in promoting the economic construction of Maldives and accelerating the development of the the Belt and Road.
Building the largest affordable housing in Maldives
The 7000 units of social housing project in Maldives is located on the second phase of Hulumale Island, with a total construction area of 468000 square meters. It is the largest social security housing project in the Maldives to date and also the project with the highest number of individual projects in the country.
Due to Maldives being located in the tropics and lacking in labor and construction resources, project construction is facing challenges such as high temperatures and resource shortages. In order to overcome these challenges, the project team adopts the "shift system" of Chinese foremen. The foremen focus on quality, especially some important technical posts, which are held and operated by experienced Chinese masters, ensuring that the project is carried out economically, safely, efficiently and with quality guaranteed; Actively coordinate with domestic suppliers, shipping companies, and project sites, and build temporary docks to ensure that materials are transported to the construction site and put into use as soon as possible; Overcoming the climate environment of high temperature, high salinity, high humidity, and high ultraviolet radiation, organizing the construction and production of the project site in an orderly and efficient manner, and ultimately completing the project in advance and delivering it to the owner.
Arthur, the General Manager of the Maldives Housing Development Company, the then project owner, stated that during the project implementation process, CSCEC mobilized quickly, organized on-site construction in an orderly manner, and had a smooth communication mechanism, demonstrating its professionalism in the construction field. As the project manager of the Malaysian side responsible for the 7000 sets of projects in Maldives, Madame Vajih of Maldives highly praised the construction speed and quality of CSCEC, and said, "I have always believed that CSCEC can overcome difficulties and deliver perfectly, and this is indeed the case
Assist in realizing the people's dream of living in peace
The 7000 units of social housing project in Maldives not only alleviated the living pressure in the capital Male, but also provided a better living and leisure environment for the people of Maldives, driving the flourishing development of commerce, culture, tourism, economy, and other areas in the surrounding area, and helping the people of Maldives lead to their dream of a happy community. At present, the occupancy rate of the project has reached 100%.
Saeed is a staff member of the Maldives Customs, and due to local housing shortages, he has been able to rent a house in Male at the age of 46. Now, it has been three years since he, his wife, and his daughter, who are over one year old, moved into a new home with 7000 social housing projects. He sighed, "Living here now, the monthly rent has decreased by nearly 40%, but the living space has changed from one bedroom to two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom. The commuting time has also been reduced from 25 minutes to 10 minutes
For all the people of the Maldives who aspire to live and work in peace and contentment, this is undoubtedly our dream of happiness. It not only has a fashionable appearance, but also greatly improves the living environment, "said Ueis, a chef who works on the second phase of Hulumale Island in Maldives. He talked about his new home, He said happily, "I used to spend more than forty minutes by car on my way to work, but now it only takes less than ten minutes. This gives me more time to spend with my family, and I feel particularly happy.Editor/Ma Xue
