Budapest–Belgrade railway makes contributions to Serbia

Recently, a delegation composed of 44 members of the Serbian National Assembly went to Novi Sad, a city in north central Serbia, to visit the construction of the Budapest–Belgrade railway in Serbia. The delegation highly evaluates the positive role played by this iconic project of cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries in local development.

Accompanied by the Chinese Embassy in Serbia and representatives of railway builders from China and Serbia, the Serbian parliament delegation arrived in Novi Sad by the high-speed railway train from Belgrade to Novi Sad (Beno Section), which has been completed and operated, visited the construction site of the Novi Sad Subotica border section (Novi Sad Section) under construction, and watched the rail laying, turnout installation Construction operations such as track compaction.

Lagushi, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Serbian National Assembly, said that the Serbian Chinese cooperation project represented by the Budapest–Belgrade railway will leave a special chapter in History of Serbia's history and will change the future of the country. She expressed gratitude to the railway construction teams of China and Serbia for their dedication and dedication, which have made important contributions to Serbia's infrastructure construction.

The Budapest–Belgrade railway is a landmark project for China and Central and Eastern European countries to jointly build the the Belt and Road, and it is also the first project for the docking of Chinese railway technology and equipment with the EU railway interconnection technical specifications. The total length of Budapest–Belgrade railway is nearly 350 kilometers, connecting Belgrade and Budapest, the capital of Hungary, including 183 kilometers in Serbia.

After the completion and opening of the whole railway line, the travel time between the capitals of Hungary and Serbia will be shortened from 8 hours to 3 hours, which will greatly improve the travel conditions of residents along the line, promote economic and social development, strengthen connectivity between Hungary and Serbia, and expand economic and trade cooperation and exchanges. It is of great significance to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Europe, and promote the joint construction of the the Belt and Road initiative and the docking of European development strategies.Editor/Ma Xue
