At more than 7 a.m., in the control room of the Document Information Center of the Shah Salman King International Integrated Port Facilities Project Department contracted by Power Construction Corporation of China Shandong Power Construction Co., Ltd., the administrator Obeid was remotely operating the camera head to check the compliance of site staff with safety specifications.
The two workers working in the fifth zone did not wear gloves when carrying heavy objects, which poses a safety risk. I need to remind them immediately. After Obeid finished speaking, he immediately issued a warning to the relevant work group and requested the on-site safety, health, and environment specialist to correct it. Shortly after, photos were sent from the scene, showing that the relevant workers had received safety education.
Through this smart construction site system, we can track and respond to on-site work situations at any time, greatly improving management efficiency and safety level. Cao Yan, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of the Project Department, said.

The Saudi King's Port project is an important component of Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision National Reform Plan. After the completion of the project, it will become the world's largest super shipyard, capable of building 4 offshore drilling platforms and over 40 various types of ships each year, creating employment opportunities for 80000 people, and further upgrading Saudi Arabia from state-owned oil transportation to state-owned shipbuilding. The project involves a huge amount of work, with over 18000 employees fighting on site during the peak construction period, and over 1500 sets of mechanical horsepower fully operating. As a new focus of Saudi Arabia's economic transformation, its significance is very significant.
Due to the large work area, large number of personnel involved, and cumbersome work processes, Chinese enterprises have independently developed this smart construction site system by utilizing technologies such as sensors, 4G mobile interconnection, and positioning systems. After the smart construction site system was put into use at the end of 2021, it immediately received attention from the owner Saudi Aramco. Saudi Aramco not only awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Project Management Process Improvement" to multiple employees involved in the project department, but also developed new project management standards for this purpose, hoping to promote it to all Saudi Aramco projects.

This year, at the request of the owner, the project department has further upgraded the smart construction site system. For example, every car entering the project passes through the positioning system to check whether it is wearing a seat belt and whether the speed complies with regulations. The carbon emission footprint of large excavators and other machinery has also been marked as a reference for all parties to carry out emission reduction actions in the future.
Cao Yan stated that the next step of the project will be to connect more sensors and devices, and introduce more intelligent control strategies to achieve automated control and optimization of project operations. Shandong Electric Power Construction has decided to upgrade the smart construction site system of King Harbor to a company level application, achieve real-time data collection from the headquarters data center, and apply it universally in other large overseas projects, forming products with independent intellectual property rights.Editor/Ma Xue
