Recently, the Bangladesh Dasher Gandhi Sewage Treatment Plant contracted by Chinese enterprises was officially completed. Mao Ning, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that this was another example of the the Belt and Road Initiative benefiting partner countries. China is willing to work with the international community to continuously promote high-quality joint construction of the the Belt and Road, and help the world economic recovery and global sustainable development.

Maoning stated that the Dasher Gandhi sewage treatment plant is the first modern large-scale sewage treatment plant in Bangladesh and the largest single sewage treatment plant in South Asia to date. It can treat the domestic sewage of 5 million residents in Dhaka City, which will greatly improve the quality of life of the local people.

The urban area of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, has long suffered from water pollution. Now, with the completion and operation of the project, it can treat nearly 5 million people's domestic sewage in Dhaka every day, greatly improving the current water environment in Dhaka and receiving praise from all parties. Russell, the operator of the Dasher Gandhi sewage treatment plant, said: We will discharge the purified water into nearby rivers, and now the river is no longer polluted. This project has played an important role in improving the ecological environment of Bangladesh.

During the entire construction period of the project, thousands of job opportunities were created for the local area, and the total value of equipment and materials purchased locally was about 300 million yuan, greatly driving the local economic development.

Mao Ning said that this is another example of the the Belt and Road Initiative benefiting partner countries. Since the the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward 10 years ago, it has created 420000 jobs for partner countries and lifted nearly 40 million people out of poverty. The research report of the World Bank shows that by 2030, the joint construction of the the Belt and Road will increase the trade of participating countries by 2.8% to 9.7%, global trade by 1.7% to 6.2%, and global income by 0.7% to 2.9%.
