On July 18-20, 2023, the feasibility study report review meeting of Gansu Huanglong Pumped-storage hydroelectricity was held in Tianshui City.

Wang Haoyun, chief staff member of the Price Cost Investigation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, Niu Jianping, director of the New Energy Division of Gansu Development and Reform Commission, Jia Yixiang, member of the Standing Committee of Tianshui Municipal Committee and executive vice mayor, Zhang Yujing, member of the Standing Committee of Tianshui Municipal Committee and vice mayor, Liu Jipeng, deputy general manager of Xinhua Power Generation, Xia Jiantao, deputy general manager of Northwest Survey, Design and Research Institute, and Guan Zongyin, deputy chief engineer of the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Resources Planning and Design attended the meeting.

Jia Yixiang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, expressing gratitude and welcome to the leaders, experts, and scholars who participated in the report review. He pointed out that the construction of the Huanglong pumped storage project in Gansu Province has received high attention and strong support from all sectors of society. The convening of this review meeting marks a crucial step forward in the comprehensive construction of the project. The Tianshui Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government will, in accordance with the opinions and suggestions of leaders and experts, work with each unit to optimize and improve one by one, actively coordinate services, ensure the orderly connection, strong promotion and effective implementation of follow-up work, and fully guarantee the construction of the project.

Before the meeting, the expert group and representatives also conducted on-site inspections at locations such as the upper and lower water reservoirs, geological exploration adits, and rock core observation points. At the meeting, Northwest Survey, Design and Research Institute gave a special report, and participating experts and representatives fully discussed and reviewed the feasibility study report.

The Huanglong Pumped Storage Project in Gansu Province is a key implementation project of the National Pumped Storage Medium and Long Term Development Plan (2021-2035) released by the National Energy Administration during the 14th Five Year Plan period and a medium to long term construction project under the Gansu Province 14th Five Year Plan period. As the largest installed capacity pumped storage project approved by the Gansu Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the Huanglong Pumped Storage Project is a new strategy for energy security that Xinhua Power Generation is deeply implementing in the northwest region A landmark project to help achieve the dual carbon strategy goals and fulfill the political, economic and social responsibilities of central enterprises, with an installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts. The construction of the power station can effectively promote the development and consumption of renewable Energy development in Gansu Province, promote the clean and low-carbon transformation of energy in Gansu Province, and serve the green development of Tianshui. It plays an important role in achieving the national dual carbon strategy goals and achieving sustainable socio-economic development in the province. Editor/Xie Li
