Recently, the 46 MW biomass power plant project in C ô te d'Ivoire contracted by CEEC and CEEC Construction Group Joint Venture laid the foundation in Aboisso Department Province in the south of the country. The Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy of C ô te d'Ivoire, Kulibali, the District Chief of South Comoe, representatives of the Chinese and French embassies in Kosovo, representatives of Électricité de France, the owner company, investors and CEEC jointly witnessed.
Project Overview
The project is led by Électricité de France and undertaken by CEEC and the construction group in a joint venture. The project was completed and signed in August 2022. The power station uses agricultural waste as fuel and can bring 34.8 billion watt hours of clean electricity to C ô te d'Ivoire annually. It is expected to be completed and generated in 2025. After completion, it can provide 348 gigawatt hours of clean electricity to C ô te d'Ivoire annually, becoming the largest biomass power station in West Africa.
The Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy of C ô te d'Ivoire, Mamadou Coulibali, said that the power station mainly uses waste such as palm leaf stalks from the palm oil production process as fuel. After completion, it will solve the electricity problem for about 1.7 million people annually and promote the sustainable development of agriculture in C ô te d'Ivoire.
Zhan Liang, Deputy Manager of the CEEC Joint Venture Project Department, said in an interview with reporters that the project can provide over 1000 job opportunities for the local area. The project department will comply with Ivorian laws and regulations and contract agreements, leverage professional project management capabilities, and efficiently and high-quality performance. At the same time, this project will serve as a demonstration of cooperation among China, France, and C ô te d'Ivoire, promoting deeper and broader cooperation among all parties in C ô te d'Ivoire and West Africa.Editor/Ma Xue
