On July 30, 2023, the founding chairman of the Global Silk Road Research Alliance, a Pakistani think tank, said in an exclusive interview with reporters in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, that the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor has brought high-quality development to Pakistan, promoted win-win economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, helped build a closer China Pakistan community of destiny in the new era, and demonstrated the vitality of jointly building the the Belt and Road.

Ten years ago, faced with coercion and pressure from certain Western countries, Pakistan faced many difficulties in its development. The launch of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor shows China's investment confidence in Pakistan, greatly improves Pakistan's international credit rating and reputation, and drives the international community's willingness to invest in Pakistan.

According to the data provided by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, by the end of 2022, the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor has brought a cumulative direct investment of US $25.4 billion to Pakistan, created 236000 jobs, and helped Pakistan add 510 kilometers of highways, 8000 megawatts of electricity and 886 kilometers of national core power transmission grid.

As an important pilot project for the joint construction of the the Belt and Road, the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor has had a tremendous impact on Pakistan's economy, society and people's lives. The corridor energy project has changed the situation of severe power shortage in Pakistan, enabling major cities to completely break free from power rationing for more than ten hours a day, almost meeting the electricity needs of production and daily life in Pakistan. Avan stated that the high-quality road network under the corridor has made commercial activities more active throughout Pakistan. The east, west, north, and south of Pakistan are connected by highways built under the corridor framework

He said that under the framework of the corridor, the facilities of the Pakistani port have been greatly improved. The free zone and port of Gwadar Port operate smoothly. The new international airport of Gwadar will also be completed. The local road traffic and communication facilities have been greatly improved, promoting economic development.

Avan believes that the high-quality development of the corridor is also reflected in the cultivation of talents. The corridor not only creates a large number of job opportunities for Pakistan, but also selects excellent talents from Pakistan and provides them with high-quality education and training. China has helped Pakistan cultivate human resources to meet the challenges of the 21st century

Avan has served as a long-term Counsellor for Science and Education Affairs at the Pakistani Embassy in China. He stated that in the past, tens of thousands of Pakistani international students have been studying advanced science and technology in China, pursuing master's, doctoral and other degrees. The Chinese side has also provided vocational education cooperation projects such as Luban Workshop to train the professional skills of Pakistani youth labor force.

The projects that China participates in have economic value and are creating wealth for Pakistan. China's investment in the development of infrastructure most needed by the Pakistani people has promoted Pakistan's economic growth and benefited the general public. Editor/Zhao E
