Sunshine Power, a solar energy storage company headquartered in China, has announced an agreement to provide a 2.2GWac inverter skid solution for a solar photovoltaic factory in Saudi Arabia.
This development project will become the largest single location utility scale factory in the Middle East. Sunshine Power has signed a contract with Indian infrastructure company Larsen&Toubro, which participated in the construction and procurement of components for the Neom Green Hydrogen Project in the Saudi Energy Economic Zone.
According to the agreement, Sungrow Power will provide photovoltaic inverters and solar power skids for the project, which will allow remote control of current and conversion of DC current into AC for grid connection.
This is Sunshine Power's latest participation in the Neom project, which was completed by 60% in May, according to the CEO of Neom. Sunshine Power has previously reached an agreement with Larsen&Toubro to provide a 600 megawatt hour energy storage system for the project.
James Wu, Senior Vice President of Sunshine Power, stated that we are pleased to collaborate with Larsen&Toubro to bring our products to the milestone NEOM Green Hydrogen project. A few months ago, we signed an agreement to provide battery energy storage solutions. We have now agreed to provide our photovoltaic inverter solution for this project.
The Neom solar photovoltaic power plant will provide energy for the Neom green hydrogen energy project. The project will be completed in 2026 and will become the world's largest green hydrogen production facility, producing 600 tons of hydrogen in the form of liquid ammonia per day.
Neom has entered into a 30 year exclusive off-take agreement with Air Products, an American industrial gas supplier, for all hydrogen produced at this facility. Air Products Company is a 33.3% joint venture partner in the project, and ACWA Power and Neom also hold equal shares.Editor/XingWentao
