On the morning of September 27, 2023, the S26 Narissong to Changtan (Longkou) Expressway project held a commencement ceremony in Zhungeer Banner. This project is an important component of the S26 Zhungeer Yinchuan Expressway in the autonomous region's highway network, invested and constructed by Inner Mongolia Transportation Group Zhungeer Banner High Grade Highway Investment Co., Ltd.

The project is located in Zhungeer Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The overall route runs from southwest to northeast, starting from Yanluliang Village, Narissong Town, connecting to Provincial Highway S224 Caoyang Road, and ending at Changtan Village, Xuejiawan Town. It is connected to the S31 Dafanpu Longkou Expressway. The total investment of the project is about 7 billion yuan, and the total length of the main line is 54.685km. Adopting the standard of a two-way four lane expressway, with a design speed of 80km/h and a roadbed width of 25.5m, the entire line is equipped with 1 super large bridge, 28 large and medium bridges, 153 culverts, 3 separate interchanges, 3 interchanges, 1 service area, and 1 maintenance work area. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2027. The project is located in the southeastern part of the Ordos Plateau and is connected to the Shanxi Shaanxi Loess Plateau. The surface along the line is fragmented, and the geological conditions are exceptionally complex. Not only does the proportion of bridges and high piers and columns increase, but also the amount of earthwork is huge. It is one of the largest and most technically challenging highway construction projects in the autonomous region.

After the completion of the project, it will effectively alleviate the pressure on the transportation channel of coal resources in the southern part of Ordos City, improve the travel conditions of surrounding people, greatly promote regional resource development, tourism development, green energy base construction, further improve the expressway network in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the trunk road network in Ordos City, and comprehensively enhance the service level of the comprehensive transportation system in the autonomous region.
