The development of transportation in Ningbo is related to the overall economic advancement and improvement of the entire Zhejiang Province and even the Yangtze River Delta region. On April 14, 2020, the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning learned that the Ningbo-Fenghua Intercity Railway Project (Yinzhou-Fenghua Section) and Ningbo Rail Transit Line 5 Phase I Project have both been approved by the State Council.
It is reported that the Yinfeng inter-city railway project started from Chen Podu Station of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 3, and after going south through the city-round expressway, the line was changed from underground to elevated, and laid along Central Road, Yanhu Road, and East Ring Road. Jinhai Road Station is reserved for further extensions. The total length of the line is about 21.64km. The total land area of the project is 27.4572 hectares. The current status is more than 20 hectares of agricultural land, 5.1477 hectares of construction land and 1.57 hectares of unused land.
Another phase 1 project of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 5 starts from Haishu District in Ningbo City and ends in Zhenhai District in the west, passing through Yinzhou District along the line. The total length of the line is 27.91 kilometers, all of which are underground lines, with a total of 18 stations. The total land area of the project is 60 hectares. The current land use is 43.4 hectares of agricultural land, about 134 hectares of construction land, and 2.4 hectares of unused land.
After the land is approved, two major projects are about to usher in a comprehensive construction stage. After the completion of the project, not only will an important skeleton line be established between Fenghua and the main urban area of Ningbo, but also the rapid connection between the east-west and north-south development axes of the city will be opened up, and the urban pattern will be further expanded.
The construction of intercity trains and rail transportation can make it easier for citizens to travel, and it is also conducive to the better implementation of low-carbon public transportation modes. Not only that, the two traffic arteries are also conducive to strengthening the economic radiation capacity of Ningbo's central city, further exerting the advantages of rail transit networking, and improving the overall benefits of the line network, which is of great significance to the expansion of the scale and function of Ningbo's metropolitan area.
