Recently, a reporter from Jiandao Network learned from Guangxi Railway Investment Group that the feasibility study report for the section from the Pearl River Delta Hub Airport of the South Shenzhen High Speed Railway to the boundary between Guangxi and Guangdong has been approved by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, marking a new stage of construction for the entire line of the South Shenzhen High Speed Railway.

Project Overview

The section from the Pearl River Delta Hub Airport of the South Shenzhen High Speed Railway to the provincial boundary has a total length of approximately 142 kilometers, roughly passing through Foshan, Zhaoqing, and Yunfu cities in Guangdong Province, and finally reaching the Guangdong Guangxi provincial boundary. It is an important section of the South Shenzhen High Speed Railway connecting Guangxi and Guangdong provinces, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The estimated total approved investment for this project is 28.336 billion yuan, and the total construction period of the project is 4 years.

The Nanshen High Speed Railway starts from Nanning, Guangxi in the west and ends in Shenzhen, Guangdong in the east. It passes through Yulin, Wuzhou (Cenxi), Yunfu, Zhaoqing, Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and other cities in Guangdong, with a total length of 648 kilometers, including 304 kilometers in Guangxi and 344 kilometers in Guangdong. The design standard is a dual track high-speed railway with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the completion of the Nanning-Shenzhen high-speed railway, the travel time from Nanning to Shenzhen will be reduced to around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The Guangxi section of the Nanning-Shenzhen high-speed railway is the first self-developed high-speed railway with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour in Guangxi. The Nanning Yulin section was fully constructed in December 2019 and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by 2024; The Yulin Cenxi section will commence construction on September 30, 2022, and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by 2026.

After the completion of the entire Nanshen high-speed railway line, it will become the third high-speed railway channel between Guangdong and Guangxi, which will help the two provinces and regions to collaborate on more projects and achieve common development. Editor/Zhao E
