On October 12, 2023, Bangladesh's first centralized wind power project, the Cox's Bazar Wind Power Project, was successfully connected to the grid to generate electricity. This milestone event marked a major breakthrough in the field of renewable energy in Bangladesh. The project is jointly invested and developed by State Power Investment Corporation Wuling Electric Power and Shanxi Jiantou International Investment Co., Ltd. with a total installed capacity of 66MW, including 22 wind turbines with a single capacity of 3MW and supporting booster stations and transmission lines.
The commissioning of this key project will bring huge economic and environmental benefits to Bangladesh. The annual power generation capacity can reach 145,600 MWh, which can reduce coal consumption by 44,600 tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions and sulfur dioxide emissions by 109,200 tons. The quantity is 25.15 tons. This not only helps meet the needs of transformation and upgrading of Bangladesh's power grid, but is also of great significance in supporting high-quality green development of the economy and society. The realization of this achievement demonstrates China's leading strength in renewable energy technology and points the way for the global clean energy transformation. Editor/GaoLiMei
