The cooperation between China and Senegal has opened a new chapter, helping to improve transportation and promote economic development in Senegal. On November 26, 2023, the Senegal Dakar Municipal Traffic Diversion Project, undertaken by a Chinese company, held its groundbreaking ceremony in the capital city of Dakar. This project is a key project of the "Revitalization of Senegal Plan", jointly funded by the China Development Bank and the Senegalese government, and jointly constructed by China Communications First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., China Henan International Cooperation Group Co., Ltd., and Senegalese partners.

Senegal's Prime Minister Amadou Ba stated that this project will greatly improve the transportation situation in Dakar, including widening and renovating the Nyaya Highway, as well as constructing elevated overpasses and pedestrian overpasses. These will have a positive impact on Senegal's economic development.

Chinese Ambassador to Senegal, Xiao Han, stated in his speech that this project demonstrates the profound foundation and broad prospects of cooperation between China and Senegal in the field of infrastructure. China and Senegal are comprehensive strategic partners and also co chairs of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. China will continue to be committed to deepening political mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

This project includes the renovation and widening of a narrow congested road section with a total length of 62 kilometers, as well as the construction of 3 elevated overpasses and 10 pedestrian overpasses. These measures will help alleviate traffic congestion in Dakar, improve local transportation conditions, and provide convenience for citizens to travel.

The commencement of this project marks a further deepening of cooperation between China and Senegal in the field of infrastructure, which will have a positive impact on Senegal's economic development. At the same time, the implementation of the project will also provide a better transportation environment for local residents and promote social and economic development. Editor/Zhao E
