On December 24, 2023, the first general airport in Wenzhou - Taishun General Airport project began construction. After the project is completed and put into use, it will further fill the transportation gap in the western mountainous areas of Wenzhou, effectively support Taishun's integration into the province's "one hour air transportation circle", seize the development of the navigation industry in a new blue ocean, and inject new momentum into the common prosperity of mountainous counties.

Municipal Party Secretary Zhang Zhenfeng announced the commencement order. Wei Jiangen, Chairman of the Provincial Airport Group, Yang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Transportation, Pan Hongzhi, Deputy General Manager of the Provincial Airport Group, and Wang Jun, City Leader, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Taishun General Airport is located in Pengjia Mountain, Luoyang Town, Taishun County, covering an area of 615 acres with a planned investment of approximately 650 million yuan. It is planned to build an A1 class general airport with a flight zone level of 2B. It is reported that the project mainly includes 1200 meters × After completion, facilities such as a 30 meter runway and apron, comprehensive terminal, hangar, and airline office building will serve aviation short distance transportation, cargo logistics, flight training, agricultural and forestry operations, aerial sightseeing tourism, forest fire prevention, emergency rescue, and disaster relief.

The newly started Taishun General Airport is one of the first pilot projects for the integration of investment, construction, and management of general airports implemented by the Provincial Airport Group. It is also an important component of its network system for building a "mountain belt and sea connected lake" general airport.

Yang Xiaoguang stated that the general aviation industry is a new blue ocean industry for future transportation. He hopes that Taishun can leverage its advantages, seize the opportunity, and take airport construction as an opportunity to cultivate the general aviation industry, bringing more livelihood benefits to the people in mountainous areas. It is reported that Taishun will take the General Airport project as the core and simultaneously promote the construction of the Aviation Industry Park, focusing on areas such as aviation intelligence, health and cultural tourism, science popularization and research, flight training, and aviation logistics to strive for greater strength.
