Recently, the first wind turbine of the Zarafshan project in Uzbekistan, equipped with CRRC wind turbines, was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. This unit is also the first megawatt level wind turbine in Uzbekistan to be connected to the grid for power generation. The total installed capacity of the Zarafshan project is 500 megawatts, and CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Company provides all direct drive permanent magnet wind turbines for the project.
The Zarafshan project is Uzbekistan's first megawatt wind power project to be implemented, and once completed, it will become the largest operational wind power project in Central Asia. It can meet the electricity needs of 500000 local households and reduce carbon emissions by 1.1 million tons per year. The grid connected power generation of the first wind turbine unit marks a significant milestone in the project Abdulla Aripov, Minister of Energy Mr Jurabek Mirzamahudov and Mr., Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) Abdulaziz Mohamed Alobaidli and local government officials from the state of Navoi and the city of Zeravshan visited the project site to witness this historic moment together.
Uzbekistan, located in Central Asia, is an important node on the ancient Silk Road and an important country to jointly build the the Belt and Road.
