Recently, Larsen&Toubro, as an EPC contractor, signed a contract with the Amaala project in Saudi Arabia to establish various systems related to renewable energy generation and utilities.

Amaala is an ultra luxury tourist destination located on the northwest coast of Saudi Arabia, surrounded by the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Nature Reserve. The project covers an area of 4155 square kilometers and is expected to have 25 hotels, 900 luxury residences, as well as a range of high-end retail venues, exquisite dining, health and entertainment facilities upon completion. Masdar, a clean energy giant in the United Arab Emirates, has teamed up with EDF, a French power company, to sign a comprehensive utility concession agreement with the developer of the Amaala project. Larsen&Toubro is responsible for the off grid renewable energy system of the Amaala project, including a solar photovoltaic power plant of approximately 250MWp and a battery storage system of 700MWh. In terms of power system, they will also be responsible for building biofuel based internal combustion engines, three gas insulated substations, high-voltage transmission lines, and medium voltage distribution networks.
