Shell and Eneco's joint venture CrossWind has commissioned its 759MW Hollande Kust Noord offshore wind farm located 18.5 kilometers off the coast of Egmond, Netherlands. By the end of 2024, the country will achieve over 4.5GW of offshore wind power.
Hollandese Kust Noord was built by CrossWind and is an unsubsidized project. Combined with other offshore wind farms such as Borssele and Hollande Kust Zuid, Hollande Kust Noord can meet 15.8% of the country's electricity demand.
The project is powered by 69 Siemens Gamesa SG11.0-200 direct drive offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 11MW. Siemens will also provide 15 years of service and maintenance services.
The total area of the wind farm is 125 square kilometers, with turbines located more than 1 kilometer apart. The basic work for this project was started by offshore construction contractor Van Oord in October 2022, followed by the installation of the first turbine in April 2023. The last turbine was installed in October 2023.
CrossWind Director Tjalling de Bruin stated that our philosophy is' we deliver, innovate, share ', and that's what we do. I am proud of the team and all our partners, as we have safely developed this wind farm in a record breaking time. We look forward to innovation within the park to help future wind farms always provide electricity, even in the absence of wind. We look forward to sharing this knowledge to accelerate energy transformation.Editor/XingWentao
