On July 12, 2020, China Communications Construction issued an announcement that China’s first offshore wind turbine with a single-unit capacity of 10 MW contracted by the Third Air Navigation Bureau was successfully connected to the grid at the Fuqing Xinghuawan Phase II offshore wind farm in Fujian. Xinghua Bay Phase II offshore wind farm is located on the southeast side of Jiangyin Peninsula and northwest side of Niutouwei in Fuqing City, with a total area of about 48.6 square kilometers. The construction includes 45 wind turbines and an offshore 220 kV booster station with a total installed capacity of 280 Megawatt.
In this generating unit that was successfully connected to the grid, the center height of the hub was 115 meters above sea level, the diameter of the fan impeller was 185 meters, and the sweep area of the wind wheel was equivalent to 3.7 standard football fields.
The three aviation bureaus use the “Sanhang Fenghe”, the wind power installation vessel with the largest domestic lifting capacity, to hoist the fan impeller. "Sanhang Fenghe" main crane has a lifting capacity of 1200 tons, equipped with a 360-ton pile-wound full-rotation auxiliary crane to complete the precise docking of the fan impeller and the generator flange in high altitude. The successful completion of this hoisting work means that my country has achieved a major breakthrough in the high-capacity fan hoisting technology.
With an average wind speed of 10 meters per second per year, the first unit installed this time is expected to deliver 40 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year, reducing coal consumption by 12,800 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 33,500 tons to meet the needs of 20,000 households Normal electricity demand. At the same time, the popularization and use of this unit can greatly reduce the cost of offshore wind power development, reduce the area of sea use, increase the ocean utilization rate, and promote the high-quality development of offshore wind power.
After the project is completed, the annual power generation is about 818 million kWh, which can save about 255,000 tons of standard coal and reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide by about 420.75 tons per year.
