On July 10, 2020, the Chilean government announced that China Power Construction had independently won the bid for the largest transmission and transformation EPC project with the highest contract value, achieving a zero breakthrough in the Chilean 500 kV ultra-high voltage transmission and transformation project.

The owner of the project is Transelec, the largest transmission company in Chile. It controls 10,000 kilometers of transmission lines and serves approximately 98% of Chile’s population.

The project includes the expansion of the 500 kV LO AGUIRRE substation and Alto Jahuel substation, as well as the replacement of the 44 km double-circuit four-split 500 kV ACAR 355 square millimeter wire with double-circuit three-split carbon fiber wire. The contract period is 36 months and the contract amount is 4098. Ten thousand U.S. dollars.

As the specific implementer, Shanghai Power Construction Fujian Company arranged a special person to conduct a detailed on-site inspection on the project site before bidding, based on the formulation of organizational structure and construction plan to fully consider the cost of personnel and machinery for the implementation of the project, and signed a supply agreement with relevant equipment manufacturers in advance Memorandum of Understanding on Goods to obtain the price advantage in the design of the expansion station and the supply of materials. In the end, the company defeated a group of internationally renowned engineering companies and successfully won the bid.

As one of the achievements of China Power Construction's years of deep cultivation in the South American transmission and transformation market, the winning bid of this project once again highlights the quality level and technical strength of the POWERCHINA brand in the field of power engineering. This first cooperation with Transelec will surely have a positive and far-reaching impact on the company's further expansion of the Chilean power market. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
