On August 2nd, the left line of the Kanapri River Tunnel Project in Bangladesh was successfully completed, marking a major breakthrough in the first large-diameter underwater shield tunnel project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise overseas.
The Kanapuri River Bottom Tunnel Project is located at the estuary of the Kanapuri River in Chittagong City, Bangladesh. It connects the east and west banks of the Kanapuri River. The total length of the tunnel is 9.3 kilometers. The shield tunnel is 2,450 meters long and the tunnel diameter is 11.8. Meters, the design speed is 80 kilometers per hour with double holes and four lanes, designed and constructed according to Chinese standards.
The project adopts the super-large diameter shield machine independently developed, manufactured and exported by China Communications Construction, with a diameter of 12.12 meters and a weight of more than 2,200 tons. During the tunneling of the left lane, the project department overcame major construction technical problems such as initial reception of shields in water-rich silt fine sand formations, shield attitude control in upper soft and lower hard formations, and shield tunneling control in iron sand formations. The launching and receiving technology of large-diameter steel sleeves was adopted to ensure the safety of shield machines.
The Kanapuri River Bottom Tunnel Project is Bangladesh’s first river bottom tunnel and the first underwater tunnel in South Asia. The completion of the project is of great significance for improving the Asian Highway network, promoting the interconnection between Bangladesh and neighboring countries, and promoting the international development of Bangladesh.
During the epidemic, the CCCC Project Department always adhered to the work policy of preventing the epidemic, promoting production, grasping with both hands, and actively coordinating the resources of all parties, ensuring the timely arrival of the project's materials and materials, and achieving zero infection among Chinese and Bangladeshi employees. Steadily promote the orderly development of various construction tasks. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
