On August 12, 2020, China Railway Construction issued an announcement that the Guangzhou Nansha Port Railroad Cable-stayed Bridge over the Xijiang River, which was built by China Railway 11th Bureau Group, was successfully closed, marking a major breakthrough in the construction of major and difficult control projects for the entire Nansha Port Railway. The entire line was completed and opened to traffic, laying a solid foundation.

Guangzhou Nansha Port Railway is a key railway transportation project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is located in the Pearl River Delta region. It mainly undertakes the transportation of foreign trade containers, energy and important raw materials in the Central and Southwest regions. It is an important part of the development of the multimodal transport network in the Greater Bay Area. . The main line of the railway is about 88 kilometers long, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It is a dual-track freight railway (changes are being processed to increase passenger transport functions). The railway passes through the four cities of Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Foshan and Guangzhou. The line leads from the newly built station of Heshan South on the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway, and goes to the southeast via the junction of Heshan and Jiangmen, Foshan Junan, Zhongshan Xiaolan, Dongfeng, Nantou, Huangpu , Guangzhou Wanqingsha to Nansha Port.

The closure of the Xijiang River Cable-stayed Bridge is located in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. The total length of the bridge is 1117.5 meters. It is a steel box hybrid double girder structure. The main span is 600 meters in length. There are two H-shaped bridge towers with different tower heights. It is 208 meters and 200 meters, with a total of 96 pairs of stay cables. It is the most difficult control project of the project, and it is also one of the most difficult construction sites and the highest safety risk site. It can be said that the scale of the project, the difficulty of construction, and the number of technological innovations are the longest span of the same type of structure in the history of China Railway Construction and even the world's current double-track freight railway construction.

The steel box girder of the closure section weighs 75.1 tons, is 4 meters long and 21 meters wide. The steel girder erection work overcomes the difficulties caused by the large cantilever of the bridge and the sensitivity of the girder body width to the influence of natural temperature and wind and rain. The welding of the top and bottom plate of the steel box girder at the Helongkou has been successfully completed, achieving all the highest goals of the design requirements and achieving the bridge zero Error closure. As a long-span cable-stayed bridge, the alignment control of the bridge construction is the key point of construction control. During the erection of steel beams, the technicians insisted on real-time monitoring and adjustment of the displacement and lifting force of the steel beams, and at the same time, kept the accuracy of the temporary connection members within millimeters to ensure the bridge alignment after the steel beams were hoisted.

After the Nansha Port Railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will successfully open up the "last mile" of sea-rail-road combined transportation in the Greater Bay Area, realize the integrated connection of ports, railways and highways in the Bay Area, form a three-dimensional transportation network, and reduce logistics costs in the Greater Bay Area.
