On the morning of August 18, 2020, China Railway Group announced that the Guangzhou Shitan Line, which was built by the China Railway Fifth Bureau, was officially opened for operation. The opening and operation of this “golden line” connecting Beijing-Guangzhou and Guangzhou-Shenzhen railways marks a new stage in the construction of a world-class railway hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—Guangzhou Railway Hub, and enables the railway passenger and freight transport capacity in the Greater Bay Area. It has been greatly released, laying a solid foundation for more high-speed trains to enter the urban area of Guangzhou.

The Guangzhou-Shijiazhuang Railway is an important part of the Guangzhou railway hub, with a total length of 68.889 kilometers. It is a Class I double-track electrified passenger and freight mixed-running railway with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The line leads from the north end of Jiangcun Station on the Beijing-Guangzhou Line and passes through Huadu District, Guangzhou. , Baiyun District, Huangpu District and Zengcheng District, connected to Shitan Station of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway. There are 5 stations in Jiangcun, Changgang, Chaoliang, Zengchengxi and Shitan on the whole line.

China Railway Fifth Bureau is responsible for the 15.16 kilometers of the main project of the new northeast truck outer winding line and the Jiangcun marshalling station reconstruction project, which mainly includes 3 bridges, 2 stations and 1 subgrade, of which the bridge is 10 kilometers long, the station and subgrade length is 5 kilometers, prefabricated Erection of 1006 T beams, 9.55 kilometers of track laying on the main line of Jiangcun Station, 12.049 kilometers of track laying on the station line, 56 sets of new turnouts, 74,519 cubic meters of pavement beds, 9.552 kilometers of lines removed, and 21 sets of turnouts removed. Among them, the outer winding line crosses railways, subways, expressways, urban roads and rivers in many places, and the number of pipelines inside and outside the roads is relocated. The bridge construction includes continuous beams, continuous steel structures, cast-in-place box beams, tied arches, and continuous Special structures such as beam arches and steel truss beams are difficult to construct. Jiangcun Station is the largest railway marshalling station in South China. The construction volume of the station's conversion to business line is large, the environment is complicated, the conditions are harsh, and the safety risk is high.

The opening of the Guangzhou-Shijiazhuang Railway has also created conditions for speeding up the construction of Guangzhou Baiyun (Tangxi) Station. After the completion of Baiyun (Tangxi) Station, it will undertake most of the general-speed passenger trains from Guangzhou Station and Guangzhou East Station, creating conditions for promoting the transformation of Guangzhou Station and Guangzhou East Station and connecting more high-speed railways and intercity railways.
