On September 28, 2020, the construction of the new Chongzuo-Pingxiang railway project officially started. It is reported that this is the third high-speed railway independently invested and constructed by Guangxi.
The newly built Chongzuo-Pingxiang railway is an extension of the Nanning-Chongzuo railway under construction. The main line of the project has a total length of 81.12 kilometers, a bridge-tunnel ratio of 83.56%, a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, and a construction period of three and a half years. The total investment of the project is about 14.9 billion yuan, which will be funded by CCIC on behalf of the autonomous region government and the Chongzuo City government on behalf of Chongzuo City in accordance with the principle of shared responsibility between districts and cities. There are 4 stations including Chongzuo South Station, Ningming East Station, Longzhou Station and Pingxiang East Station.
After the new Chongzuo-Pingxiang railway project is completed and opened to traffic, the Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed rail will be fully accessible. The western end of the line will be connected to Vietnam's Dongdeng-Hanoi railway via the Xianggui Line, and it will be connected to Vientiane-Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore via Hanoi. ; The east end is introduced into Nanning hub via Nan-Chong Railway, which is connected with Nan-Guang, Liu-nan (Xiang-Gui), Yun-Gui Railway and the Guinan high-speed railway under construction, further forming an important new international transportation channel from China to ASEAN and greatly improving the border The interconnection of transportation infrastructure will help improve the level of connectivity between Guangxi and Southeast Asia, and accelerate the construction and development of new land-sea corridors in the west.
